Walking

We are lucky to have walks right from our doorstep, perfect if you want a quiet pre dinner stroll, or just a walk to the pub! You will find some routes printed off and some guides in the hut, you can see brooks, orchards, woodland and open farmland without getting in the car. But if you fancy something more strenuous, or to take in some iconic views there is plenty to offer as well.

Looming in the background behind The Commander’s Caravan are the Clee Hills, with the mighty Brown Clee Hill being the highest point in Shropshire. A quick 15 minutes in the car will take you close to the top where you can see stunning views and start some walks. Another great Shropshire walk is of course the famous Long Mynd, slightly further, its about a 45 minute drive away, details of it are here. Another option for those of you who like fossils is a trip to Wenlock Edge, look at the path as you go to find fossils in the limestone, we did!

If woodlands are more your thing, then Mortimer Forest and the Wyre Forest are both in easy reach, or the wood at Queenswood Country Park would also tick that box. From the door step you can walk around Haws Hill which is mostly wooded and has bluebells in spring.

You can walk to Tenbury for a stroll, it takes about 45 minutes. Closer still you can walk to The Fountain Pub about 25 minutes away or to Cadmore Lakeside Hotel, just 10 minutes away.
