About Us
The Commander's Caravan is a totally unique Shepherds Hut Glamping space for two. Carefully created to provide blissful getaways in an environmentally friendly way. Located just outside Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire
Carefully converted from an Army Brockhurst trailer, the Commander’s Caravan is the perfect glamping getaway. We completed the Commander’s Caravan in 2018 and it spent two years welcoming guests on our farm in Wests Wales. In late 2020 we made the move to a tiny small holding just outside Tenbury Wells, where the Commander’s Caravan is now ready to welcome a new set of guests in its new location. The shepherds hut now sits behind our house in a 3 acre field, tucked under the shade of the Cherry Plum trees. A quite spot, with walks from the doorstep but close to the market town of Tenbury Wells. There is plenty to explore nearby.

Small but perfectly formed, the Commander’s Caravan has a comfy king size bed, fold out table and chairs, a seating area by the Rayburn, wood fired Rayburn for heating and cooking, plus a solar fridge, 2 ring gas hob, lighting, running hot and cold water, BBQ area and private deck. Everything you need for your Shepherds Hut adventure.

If you would like to add a breakfast option to your stay let us know! We can provide either a Continental style hamper delivered to the door or provide you with a range of local ingredients so you can cook yourself a full English.
Hot Tub
Out on the deck of the Shepherds Hut, the wood fired hot tub is the prefect spot to relax as the sun goes down. If you have been on an epic hike its also pretty good at soothing aces and pains! Full details on how to use the tub will be given and the wood is provided.

Off grid living doesn’t mean lacking in comfort. The Commander’s Caravan shepherds hut has all you need for a comfy stay. A king size bed, table & chairs, small kitchen with solar fridge, gas hob and of course the wood fueled Rayburn for heating and cooking. There is solar powered lighting and charging points and you have a well equipped shower room just a step away.

Perfect Location
Tucked at the back of a 3 acre field there is peace and quiet, but the local area has lots to offer. We are close to the Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire boarder. The market towns of Tenbury Wells and Ludlow are close by. There are walks from the doorstep or head further afield so enjoy the Shropshire Hills AONB or a range of castles, houses and gardens.

We charge a £25 admin fee if cancelling more than 28 days in advance. For cancellations less than 28 days in advance the full booking value is charged unless we manage to resell the space. Details can be found in our Terms and Conditions.
No, we do not accept dogs as our own dogs are not great fans of strange dogs.
No, there is no mains electric in the Commander’s Caravan. Lights and fridge are provided by solar power, there is a 12v car charging socket for mobile phone. There is no Wi-Fi but mobile signal is pretty good and often 4G coverage.

Inside the Commander’s Caravan there is a two ring gas hob for cooking or boiling the kettle. There is also the Rayburn whihc you can cook on when lit, it’s hot plate can be used just like a hob and the oven can be used too, however it is small so you wont get a huge pizza in there! Outside there is a fire bowl with a BBQ grill over.
All bedding, towels and bathrobes are provided along with handsoap.

Welcome Tea, Coffee, Sugar and salt peper and oil along with a welcome nibble and pint of milk.
Wood for the hot tub, fire pit and Rayburn is included on a “fair use” basis which means 99 out of 100 guests have enough for their stay. Extra can be purchased from us although that hardly ever happens!
There is a private showeroom just off the deck. This has a shower, sink and flushing loo. Water is heated by a gas water heater.
